I suggest, you should learn atleast C++ before learning java, as java follow abstraction, that will be much better if you know programming methodolgies and some experience in C++ Next, you should be able to run the programs at command prompt so the knowledge of using command prompt, basic commands and batch programming will be an advantage. read less
