Bengal was partitioned in 1905 by the British, the reason given by them was Bengal was as large as France and had a significantly larger population. The partition was all for administrative convenience.

Hidden agenda:

The partition separated the Muslim eastern areas from the Hindu western areas. They purposely created a religious divide among the people. Muslims in the east supported separation and Hindus in the West Bengal were against it. East Bengal was backward so, people thought they would be benefited with the division.

The partition separated the Muslim eastern areas from the Hindu western areas. They purposely created a religious divide among the people.
