12th graders are teenagers turning to adults. For them they are already achieved the adulthood and high on hormones of independence, freedom, liberty & exploration. You can’t now interact with them in the same manner as in their middle school life. They are exploring themselves with a high energy. One thing that can drive a student towards your leadership is respect. Till the time they don’t respect you, there’s no power you could interact with them. They’ll never listen to you. We as teachers need to be the guiding force for them, understand them, know what they are going to. We need to match up to their generation, need to be advance to what they know of their generation and have a solid insight of what we offer. Once such a relationship is developed, be it any child, each of them are beautiful in their own way and have the potential to realise their own interests and what they are good at. No one size fits for all and we need to match up to their approach with our insights & knowledge. Fortunately, it has been well proven among many leaders & teachers and so has it worked for me. Grateful to have recommendations as well. :)
