Silly Mistakes Candidates Still Do In Their Resume

Navendu Parthsarthy

1. Writing Resume / Curriculum Vitae on top: Both you and Interviewer know that this is your resume or CV then why there is need to write this on the top. Delete the same and it will give you space to highlight more important things.

2. Giving complete residential address: What an interviewer has to do with your complete residential address like flat no., street name etc. These details are of no use and must be skipped. Just mention the location & city and that is more than enough.

3. Objective: If you don’t have a well-defined objective, then don’t copy paste that from anywhere. Rather remove this section from your resume. Your resume is about you and the person reading your resume can easily make out that you have copied this from Google.

4. Microsoft word and Excel as skills: These are no more considered as skills anymore. Anyone even applying for a clerical job should not considered including the same. These are considered basic computer knowledge now a days even for freshers.

5. Personal Details: No one has any interest or time to know about your personal details like your parent’s name, their profession etc. unless it has been specifically asked in the interview requirement.
