Ask a Question
Given ratio of present ages P and Q ages is 5:7
Therefore, P = 5x and Q = 7x
Difference of Q present = 7x and
P's age after 6years = 5x+6
is 2
i.e. |7x-5x-6| = 2
=(2x-6) = 2
= 2x-6 =+2, -2
From above eqn x = 4 or x = 2
Sum of present ages of P and Q when x = 4 is 48
Sun of present ages of P and Q when x = 2 is 24
Check :
When x = 4
P = 20 , Q = 28. Sum is 48
Difference is 28-(20+6) = 2 ( hence checked)
When
x = 2
P = 10 and Q = 14.Sum is 24
Difference is (10+6) - 14 = 2 ( Hence checked)
