It is nothing like that . it is based on how you learn those concepts.
Coming to both Java and Javascript, They support object oriented programming, so no much difference. Initially Javscript used to be only for web browsers, but that has been changed and modern concepts like promises, throttling, asynchronous programing etc makes one fear of javascript.
Where as for Java, u have more longer syntaxes , but it is very straight forward, no exceptions or confusing things, but lot of concepts and more time to build systems, where javascript offers the more or less features.
So for anything, just try to build your foundations very strong, understand each point , then choose which area or which tech u want to work for, go with it.

Best way to learn is - learn basics through tutorial or lectures and simultaneously try to implement those.
Then try few modifications to your code and play with the code, then you will know so many hidden concepts, exceptions which makes ur foundations very strong.
Then, Go for building projects , start from basic and learn all production technqiues, industry practices etc...
