I have extensive experience teaching guitar to learners across a wide age range, from young beginners in primary school settings to older students and adult learners in one-to-one and group environments. My teaching focuses on building a strong musical foundation through a balance of technique, creativity, and performance confidence. I guide students through essential skills such as correct posture, hand positioning, strumming patterns, chord transitions, rhythm accuracy, fingerstyle basics, and scale work, while gradually introducing lead guitar concepts, improvisation, and stylistic playing based on their level. My approach is highly student-centered, adapting lessons to suit individual learning styles, goals, and musical interests. For beginners, I emphasize confidence-building through simple chord-based songs, rhythm exercises, and familiar melodies that keep learning engaging and motivating. For intermediate learners, I develop their understanding of chord progressions, barre chords, picking techniques, scales, modes, and song structure, helping them transition from simply playing songs to understanding how music works on the fretboard. I also integrate music theory directly into guitar instruction, including note recognition on the fretboard, intervals, scale construction, chord building, and understanding keys and modes, enabling students to become more independent musicians. My lessons often include ear training, improvisation exercises, and songwriting support, especially for students interested in composing their own music. In addition to technical instruction, I have experience preparing students for performances, school showcases, and ensemble settings, helping them develop stage presence, timing, listening skills, and confidence while performing solo or in groups. I encourage reflective learning by helping students track their progress, identify strengths, and set achievable musical goals. My teaching experience includes both in-person and remote guitar lessons, and I am comfortable delivering engaging online sessions using structured lesson plans, visual demonstrations, backing tracks, and interactive practice strategies.
