A common rule of thumb for determining the number of nodes in a Hadoop cluster is to have no more than 20 nodes per namenode. This means that if you have one namenode, you should aim for a cluster size of no more than 20 nodes. If you have two namenodes, you can have up to 40 nodes in the cluster
