Hi Guitar : 1. It has only 6 strings 2. All 6 strings plays melody. 3.guitar is from western Europe Sitar : 1. It has 18 to 20 strings 2. Out of 18 only 6 strings are played strings 3. Sitar from India.

Guitar and sitar are very different. Basically Guitar is a western instrument and sitar is a classical instrument. On guitar, you can play rhythm and lead both. But on sitar you can play lead only. The only thing that relate them both is that both are string instrument.
