Google acquired SketchUp in March 2006. SketchUp was originally developed by @Last Software, and after the acquisition, it became part of Google's suite of 3D modeling tools. The acquisition allowed Google to enhance its geospatial services, including Google Earth, by integrating SketchUp's 3D modeling capabilities. However, Google later decided to sell SketchUp, and in 2012, Trimble Navigation acquired SketchUp from Google. Since then, SketchUp has been developed and maintained by Trimble, and it has continued to be a popular 3D modeling software in various industries, including architecture, design, and construction. read less
