Experience in School or College
My school life was a foundational chapter in shaping not just my academic path, but also my sense of self. Studying in a rural private school as both a student and later as a Science educator, I experienced school from both sides of the classroom. As a student, I pursued Science at Darrang College after completing my HSLC from K.V.C.U.T in 2018. While the academic pressure was real, I found meaning in subjects that made me think critically and stay curious about the world. But school wasn’t just about academics. It was where I first began to understand myself more deeply as a transgender person—navigating identity while trying to fit into spaces that often didn’t feel ready for me. It wasn’t always easy, but these challenges helped me grow stronger, more compassionate, and more determined to support others like me. Later, working as a Science educator at Amar Jyoti English School from 2021 to 2023, I felt empowered to make learning a space of encouragement and openness. Teaching students in secondary classes and documenting their growth gave me a new purpose—to give the kind of support I had once needed myself. Looking back, school was both a struggle and a sanctuary. It gave me the tools to think, question, and eventually advocate for change—skills I now carry into my BBA journey and my broader work in education, community development, and queer rights.
