I am looking out for language teacher (German). However, I am confused about how much should I expect to spend on tuitions. Also, how much training time is sufficient for a teacher to teach me Level A1. (For ex. Rs. 6000/3 months.etc) I understand, I need to practice as well in order to pass the course. But would appreciate a general info. From those who have done this in past.

I would never suggest you to join a tutor who is ready to teach u A1 or B1 in 6000 rupees. Reputed institute like Goethe is not a fool, which is charging high fees for all levels because this is very extensive and quality Language. However, as you grow and as you get good feedback and you gain confidence to teach . There comes a time where you would charge more. I take 10,000/- for A1 online class. Please note do not be hesitant to spend money on what you would like to learn. 10 years back I learned from Max Mueller Bhavan ( Goethe ) did all level spend around 1.7 lac overall in 1.5 years . 10 Years back people were not aware of scope of languages and they used to laugh. Trust me I am happy today that I spend that amt and learning through my hobby more than what I invested. Just remember don't leave it in between, complete atleast till B1 . Just doing 2 levels will not help you to gain jobs... So go with a good teacher , who has passion to teach and not to teach for Money. Hope this helps , you to take decision read less

No one will teach foreign language in such a low amount otherwise you have to compromise on the quality of the teaching and compromise on the methods the language is taught. Even for some local tuition only you have to pay more than this amount. I would say learning German from Goethe institute is worth if you can spend regular hours and money. Goethe Institute (which is private institute) has reputation in the industry, hence they are charging high but you see the benefits ; join their "Deutsch fuer Dich" online learning platform which is free of cost, their library. Go for it if the institute is near by, otherwise join JNU, DU for language courses if you don't want to spend much. I myself have completed Intensiv Advance Diploma, Advance Diploma and them M.A German from Delhi University but I joined MMB too to see the difference in teaching styles and did three levels along with MA in 2002. I enjoyed being part of DU & MMB. For completing each level minimum hours required is 80 and maximum 140 as per Common European Framework. Currently people are charging 200 to 500 per hour for one on one online sessions. For group sessions charges are comparatively less if it is classroom. I charge depending on the students background and their language efficiency in English and my efforts and time. But believe it you definitely need a trainer; just referring to some books or material would not help you much provided read less

It further depends on the experience of a trainer and mode of teaching/techniques. I wonder Rs 6000 is really reasonable but make sure all the knowledge transfer is done properly if you go for it. read less

All you need to take daily classes, as it is a tough language with full of exception, daily practice is essential. All you need to learn as much possible verb and vocabulary list. Rest are structures, which you have to learn by heart and daily practice with YouTube german short essay, song would be enough. 6000 is a very low price. Go for it, giethe looted the money, ya they do work on practices but they charge very much.. I suggest you not to go with thise who suggested about goethe, i studied there. read less
