I am a professional sitar player and teacher with over 15 years of experience in Indian classical music, encompassing both performance and teaching. My journey with the sitar has been deeply rooted in tradition, discipline, and continuous learning, and I am passionate about passing on this rich musical heritage to my students. I work with learners of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners, guiding them with patience and clarity.

I hold a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Music with specialization in Sitar, which has allowed me to combine rigorous academic research with extensive practical training. My academic background complements my performance experience and enables me to teach with depth, structure, and authenticity. I strongly believe that a balance of theory and practice is essential for true musical growth.

As a performing artist, I have participated in numerous concerts, music festivals, and cultural programs. These stage experiences shape my teaching, as I prepare students not only to learn compositions but also to develop confidence, expression, and stage presence. I guide students in understanding raga structure, improvisation, rhythm (tala), and the emotional aspects of performance.

My teaching approach is structured and practical-based, with a clear progression from foundational techniques to advanced musical concepts. I focus on developing strong basics in meend, gamak, layakari, and raga development, ensuring that students build a solid and sustainable technique. Each lesson is carefully planned and adapted to the individual learning pace and goals of the student.

I have trained students for stage performances, academic evaluations, and certification courses, helping them achieve both technical proficiency and musical maturity. I place strong emphasis on discipline, regular practice, and correct technique, while also encouraging creativity and personal expression within the classical framework.

I conduct both online and offline classes, making my teaching accessible to students from different locations. My aim is to nurture a deep understanding and respect for Indian classical music, helping students grow not just as sitar players, but as thoughtful and sensitive musicians with a lifelong connection to their art.
