there is no difference in the spelling but the context in which it is used can very very well differentiate the meaning and usage.

Many words in French sometimes are actually duplicates but we understand the meaning of the word through the way it is used...like the word for the musical instrument "Trombone" will most likely be used as "jouer le trombone" i.e. to play the trombone instead of the paper clip.
