Correction is a vital part of teaching. The student should be corrected without hurting him / her.

When a child is reading loud try to correct him but not each and every word. The word which he is pronouncing completely wrong, has to be corrected immediately. Rest you can underline and can tell him later and can make him pronounce twice or thrice.

Don't interrupt the flow, correct the child at the end. And model the right pronunciation to the kid.

Reading is about recognizing letters / symbols and associating them to various sounds. I would recommend you to focus on the sounds, rather than the words that too, one or two sounds at the max at a time. Underline all the words that he/ she may have mis-pronounced, but correct and focus few at a time....

No, that will demotivate the child. Concentrate on few important, then slowly gradually improve the pronunciation.

To some extent this is a subjective question. A passage can contain over 1000 words and if the student reads 5 words wrongly, they can be corrected immediately. But if half of what he reads is wrong, then the approach is totally different. Care should be taken if you are dealing with a sensitive student...
