Freestyle is not a dance form. As the word says, freestyle is something that you do on your own with the dance forms that you have learnt. So freestyle was not originated anytime, its done in all dance forms. :)

Free style dance initiated in 1970s and it become more popular in 1980s. Los Angeles and New York were important locations for the evolution of freestyle dancing.Jamaica is also an important area for freestyle.
