If you are talking about a Hindustani flute of seven holes the hole at the last is used for swar called Madhyam short name 'Ma'.

It depends upon your dedication and the time you spend for the riyaz. But then definitely it will take months time to learn, practice and become a professional. You can achieve this quick based on the practice.
