Cellulose is an insoluble substance which is the main constituent of plant cell walls and vegetable fibres such as cotton. It is a polysaccharide consisting of chains of glucose monomers.
Cell wall, which is not made up of cellulose, is known as the non-cellulosic cell wall. For example, the cells of kingdom fungi have a non-cellulosic cell wall.
Cell walls made of cellulose are only found around plant cells and a few other organisms. Cellulose is a specialized sugar that is classified as a structural carbohydrate and not used for energy.
