The human brain is divided in two different hemispheres -- the right and the left brain. Each of these hemispheres have a unique mode of thinking, which is stark opposite to the other. Most of us, have a strong leaning towards a particular side of the brain. And each side of the brain has a unique thinking style. Depending on which side your child’s brain leans more, you can create a learning environment and activities, which can help him make the most out of his dominant brain personality.
If your little one is creative, loves hands-on activities, very visual, struggles to concentrate and finds hard to cope with traditional learning environment, chances are that your child is a right-brainer. Still unsure how to identify right-brain traits in your child, here are few traits listed for you:
- Creative: Right-brained children are excited about doing creative stuffs like painting, drawing, or any art related activities.
- Good memory: Children with dominant right brain tend to have good memory. They can easily recollect images and visual details like colors and sizes, they had seen before.
- Loves to learn via activities: They love learning by involving in various activities, whether it is crafts, drawing or painting.
- Intuitive: These kids are very intuitive. They perform a lot of activities based on their intuitive judgement.
- Spontaneous: Right brain children are not very methodical. They like to do things spontaneously rather than following a rule book or instructions.
- Day dreamer: These kids would exhibit traits that of a day-dreamer. Loves to dream about situations that will never happen in real life.
- Imaginative: They are highly imaginative and probably that’s why all the great innovators are right-brainers.
- Quiet time: Need to spend some time alone, to process new information.
- Sees the whole idea: These children will focus more on learning or getting the whole picture rather than concentrating only on parts.
- Not logical: Right-brained children are not very logical.
- Prefers to work in a group: They love working in a team or group environment rather than solving a problem all alone.
- Not good with numbers: The right-brainers may not be that great with numbers. They may find it quite repetitive and boring.
- Excellent spatial awareness: They have great spatial awareness which means the children will have organized knowledge of objects including himself.
