Top 8 Skills Every High School Student Should Learn

School years are the best time to prepare yourself and hone skills for future. Because what you learn in this stage, stays with you lifelong. Therefore, students should utilize this time to develop the following essential eight skills:

Top 8 Skills to be Learnt at School

Critical Thinking: Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and analyze a situation rationally. It isn't about thinking harder or for longer time, rather it's all about thinking deeper and better. It should be developed when the students are still in high school. Honing this skill, enables a student to arrive at best possible solutions or answers for a problem.

Effective Communication: Of all the skills, communication is one of the most important skills that students should develop in high school. It is the art of conveying thoughts, facts and information via the use of words, gestures and emotions - to put across a message clearly. Without effective communication no problem or conflict in this world can be resolved. Developing this soft skill is a must for students while they are in high school.

Writing: Even though we live in a highly technology rich world. But when it comes to communication, we resort to writing. It is one of those most critical skills that students must learn. Writing is required not just to write a college essay, its scope is much greater than that. It is also one of the much in-demand skills that employers look for in their future employees.

Listening: Listening is one of the most critical skills that students should develop right from an early age. The problem with most people is - they just hear but doesn't pay enough attention to listen. Listening is a skill that can be improved with practice. So it is imperative that you start listening while you are still at school. When you listen well, you can understand messages clearly, get correct information, increase your productivity and build better relationships.

Questioning: Students when sit in their classes attending their teachers’ lectures, they must ask questions to understand themes, topics and subjects better, and clarify their doubts. Asking questions is important, even if you think your questions are simple. If you stop asking questions at the right time, you may miss on complete clarity on a topic, theme or subject.

Goal Setting: If you want to achieve or reach a level, it is imperative that you set your desired goals and focus to achieve them. Goal setting is a life skill that pushes you harder to achieve your goals within a time frame.

Time Management: Managing your time effectively can bring out the Achiever in you. And if you fail to utilize your time, you know the outcome in your life won't be great. Whether a person is President of a Nation or a Farmer, they still gets the same number of hours i.e. 24 hours. So what you do to utilize your time, decides a lot where you can reach in life.

Commitment: Becoming a Winner is a matter of hard work and strong commitment, to what you have planned to achieve. Generally how far you go in life depends on your ability to stick to your goals no matter what. Commitment is not a skill that can be developed within a short time, but with practice it can improved.

What should I do when my 4 year old child does not listen to me when I request even for brushing his teeth, taking bath, watching TV from distance etc daily habits he tests my patience and if i become angry he backfires and becomes stubborn.
Please don't expect discipline in a 4 year old child and pls don't insist so much on obedience. Instead create an atmosphere of fun/play in which the child deliberately makes the desired action.
