The society needs both types of artists. Choose which type of artist you want to be by your own self-assessment. Though a degree is not required for entrepreneurship, training is a requirement. Training can be obtained in multiple ways - by a degree/course, by interactions with fellow entrepreneurs and learning from them, by working in a startup and getting hands-on experience and by acquiring knowledge from workshops and books.
