Ya ya sure, or I should either say you should draw from your imagination. Let your imagination flow and paste that in form of your painting. I myself not a trained artist, I always practiced painting what comes first in my mind.

Why do sketches look better than line art so often?
Sketches are often quick and loose. This allows the mark making to be fresh and open. when you begin to line the work you are making the marks all the same weight and it takes the freshness away from the original sketch.
