Git is a distributed Source Code Management ( SCM ) tool. Git has 3 stages, a working space where a developer writes codes, an index ( or staging) in which code comes in the knowledge of git, and using the git commit command, the code gets saved into the local repository. When the developer pushes the code on the central repository, the pipeline gets triggered. So we can understand it as the first major component of DevOps as it stores all the codes with its various versions, that is why git is also termed a version control tool. read less
