Is SRE Google's version of DevOps?

Responsibilities: In DevOps, responsibilities are shared across development and operations teams, encouraging a collaborative approach. In SRE, there is a dedicated SRE team responsible for ensuring the reliability of services, often through automation and applying engineering principles. Metrics and Objectives: DevOps may measure success through metrics related to deployment frequency, lead time, and mean time to recovery (MTTR). SRE uses metrics like Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to quantify and manage reliability goals. Risk Management: SRE places a strong emphasis on risk management, understanding that reliability is a balance between features and reliability. DevOps also values risk management but does not have the same level of emphasis on formalized risk management practices.
