"Teacher reviews of student handwriting provide a critical evaluation of a child's fine motor development, focusing on core mechanics like legibility, letter formation, spacing, and baseline alignment. In their assessments, teachers categorize performance into clear tiers, praising proficient students for consistent, rhythmic script while identifying developing writers who struggle with erratic letter sizes, improper pencil grips, or reversals. To bridge these gaps, educators deliver constructive feedback alongside targeted classroom interventions—such as utilizing highlighted guide paper, slowing down writing speeds, and introducing muscle-strengthening motor exercises—to transform sloppy penmanship into a neat, confident, and highly readable script.
