Overview

As evident from my qualifications, I love to learn the intricacies of Science (Chemistry and Bio) and same want to inculcate in the students who really want to learn and understand the scientific concepts underlying complex biochemical problems. So I started teaching early in my life since got admission in Graduation. My teaching methodologies are scientifically proven to make the student understand really well.

"Which of the following elements will gain one electron more readily in comparison to other elements of their group?
(a) S (g) (b) Na (g) (c) O (g) (d) Cl(g)" in
CBSE/Class 11/Science/Chemistry, CBSE/Class 11/Science/Chemistry/Unit 3-Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties

Chlorine. Answer is D

"In which of the following options order of arrangement does not agree with the variation of property indicated against it?
(a) Al3+ < Mg2+ < Na+ < F (increasing ionic size)
(b) B < C < N < O (increasing first ionization enthalpy)
(c) I < Br < Cl < F (increasing electron gain enthalpy)
(d) Li < Na < K < Rb (increasing metallic radius)" in
CBSE/Class 11/Science/Chemistry, CBSE/Class 11/Science/Chemistry/Unit 3-Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties

Answer is C. Fluorine due to small size and high no. Of electrons in it's outer most shell slightly repel the electrons. So Cl has highest electron gain enthalpy. Moreover electron gain enthalpy always written with negative sign as it is energy released. So, high magnitude let's say (-10 for chlorine) with negative sign means lower value when compared with (-2 for iodine). So the order should also be reversed

"The radius of Na+ cation is less than that of Na atom. Give reason." in   CBSE/Class 11/Science/Chemistry, CBSE/Class 11/Science/Chemistry/Unit 3-Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties

Because in Na+ the only electron in outer most shell is removed hence effectively it has now one shell less than Na

"Which of the following have no unit?
(a) Electronegativity (b) Electron gain enthalpy
(c) Ionisation enthalpy (d) Metallic character" in
CBSE/Class 11/Science/Chemistry, CBSE/Class 11/Science/Chemistry/Unit 3-Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties

Metallic character and electronegativity both don't have any unit. Electronegativity is defined on Pauling scale with Max value of 4 for fluorine
