Ie am Simran Samant. I have completed my bachelors in Mathematics from Miranda House, University of Delhi. Hence, I have a good command over the subject and a strong understanding of the underlying concepts especially the ones taught in higher secondary and senior secondary classrooms.
Before joining college in Novemeber 2021, I spent a few months tutoring various students in Mathematics (grade 8-grade 10). Once, I joined college, I joined the Mentor-Mentee Club of our college where I spent a few months privately tutoring
students who could not afford tuitions and were severely affected by COVID-19. It was amazing to be helpful in creating a change in some students lives. I joined Teach for India as a fellow and I spent a month in an under-resourced classroom in Brahmapuri post completion of training in Pune, where I delved into an interesting pedagogy to teach students and learnt various ways a classroom could be made interesting. In Pune, I spent a month teaching a class of 2nd graders. I was assigned grade 3 and I was teaching them all the subjects. However, my mental and physical health took a severe toll and I had to opt out of the fellowship. I still wish to continue using the experience I have gained inclassroom in a fruitful manner while personally spending time on achieving my personal goals.
In college, I had the opportunity to explore various fields of leadership; I was the President of Department of Mathematics (2023-2024) and was a enthusiastic member of the Placement Cell, the Creative Writing Club and the Mentor-Mentee Club.
My other areas of interest include reading, writing etc.
