I feel I was blessed with a knack for performing arts since childhood, having been born in a Tamil Brahmin family with father as an eminent Bharatnatyam dancer, and mother, a gifted Carnatic singer.
Dancing since the tender age of 3 years, I could manage to complete my Arangetram by 7, under the training of my father, Guru N.V. Venkataraman, who founded Natya Sudha way back in 1959.
After graduating in Arts from Delhi University, I went on to professionally pursue Bharatnatyam-choreography, and later assumed responsibility as Director, Natya Sudha, a Delhi-based school for the revival and sustenance of traditional art-forms.
For more than two decades now, I have been nurturing and guiding those aspiring to learn this divine art of Bharatnatyam in the traditional 'Guru-shishya' style.

Gurumaa is a 'par excellence' Bharatanatyam trainer, choreographer and Guru. I, Apoorva, am a law-professional of 26 years, and have been learning under her expert guidance for nearly 2 years now.Not only is she a praiseworthy teacher, but also a highly evolved and compassionate human being who treats students almost like her extended family! Representing a lineage of trained artists, she is the present Director of Natya Sudha, an institute established in 1959 by her father and Guru, Sh. N.V. Venkatraman. Carrying forward this legacy, her school has branches across Delhi-NCR, and is spreading quality-training in the ancient temple-dance and divine art of Bharatanatyam! I would personally recommend her to all beginners and aspiring dancers willing to learn this dance-form under an able guide and dancer.
