IdentityI feel I was blessed with a knack for performing arts since childhood, having been born in a Tamil Brahmin family with father as an eminent Bharatnatyam dancer, and mother, a gifted Carnatic singer.
Dancing since the tender age of 3 years, I could manage to complete my Arangetram by 7, under the training of my father, Guru N.V. Venkataraman, who founded Natya Sudha way back in 1959.
After graduating in Arts from Delhi University, I went on to professionally pursue Bharatnatyam-choreography, and later assumed responsibility as Director, Natya Sudha, a Delhi-based school for the revival and sustenance of traditional art-forms.
For more than two decades now, I have been nurturing and guiding those aspiring to learn this divine art of Bharatnatyam in the traditional 'Guru-shishya' style.
