Given the first condition of ratio of P & Qs Age Equation -1 ----------> P/Q = 5/7 ----------> 7 P = 5 Q Now Second condition Q - (P+6) = 2 ---------------> Q - P = 8 Multiply it by 7 then we get --------> 7Q - 7 P = 56 Now from Equation -1 ------------> 7P = 5 Q putting this value... ...more

Given the first condition of ratio of P & Qs Age 

Equation -1 ---------->  P/Q = 5/7 ----------> 7 P = 5 Q

Now Second condition

Q - (P+6) = 2 ---------------> Q - P = 8

Multiply it by 7 then we get --------> 7Q - 7 P = 56

Now from Equation -1 ------------> 7P = 5 Q putting this value of 7P in above equation

7Q - 5Q = 56 -------> 2 Q = 56 ----------> Q = 28 Then P = 20 from Equation-1

So total of P & Q's age is 48
