It depends upon the context and perspective. English is commonly used language across the world whereas Tamil is not as widely used as English. The latter is only spoken in Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Malaysia. If you are in a Tamil-speaking region, Tamil is more important for daily communication, local identity, and cultural pride.
If you need to interact with people worldwide or work in global industries, English is more important as it provides access to education, jobs, and international opportunities. So it totally depends upon the place where a person lives.

No, the English language did not originate in America. It originated in England, which is part of the United Kingdom. English developed from the West Germanic languages spoken by the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes, who migrated from present-day Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands to Britain around the 5th century CE. Over time, it was influenced by Old Norse (from Vikings) and French (after the Norman Conquest in 1066). By the time of Modern English (16th century onwards), the language had taken a form similar to what is spoken today.
