Of course you can do it. Data science applied to on-page optimization is a major topic, as good SEO not only improves your organic traffic but also increases conversion rates. Traditional SEO tools available have been per-se data science products. You can use data science for SEO to make better decisions on what aspects of web design, content, on-page and off-site SEO is beneficial and detrimental to SEO. Basically, you use data science to build models from complex data to discover relationships so that you can make the digital marketing process more predictable, quantifiable and operational. Now let's see a few practical examples of using data science in SEO: 1. Competition Analysis You can monitor your competitors by mapping out the changes on their website and what others are saying about them. This allows you to see whether their activities are beneficial and what is driving that success. 2. Technical Analysis When you have big websites (getting traffic in Millions), you have a huge pile of server logs. You do server log analysis to identify the correlation between technical problems and its impact on business metrics. We all know the Amzaon load time case study. Webpage load slowdown of just one second could cost it $1.6 billion in sales each year. 3. Content Marketing Everywhere on the web you must have read 'content marketing is king' and everybody jumping on the bandwagon. No doubt content marketing could build your business, if approached logically and scientifically. You can use data science to emulate the search engines crawling. Identify different content topics written on the web, measure different signals and the effect of those signals on business key performance indicators (KPIs) such as SEO traffic, pages per visit, social shares, and so on. read less
