What i think is programming is not only related to language but moreover its a logic. If have better understanding and clear conpect that what you want to buil and how you built then you can have bright future in development industry. Programming is just a matter of syntax you can choose any language all are good until and unless you are good in your logic and concept. You start with PHP also.

First what is your background experience and what you want to pursue . Like if you have experience of statistics and math , go for R and Python.

Being a newcomer I think you should start with Python. The future of Python would be broad after proper grip on this language you can use the same for Big Dtata solutions as now a days hadoop technology consists flavour of Python and the area of working is broad for that. We would like to suggest you to start writing basic algorithms.
Every day increase the complexity of algorithm.
i.e first day jus start learning add two numbers
finding largest of 3 numbers
finding largest item in array of multiple integers. etc etc
and after 1 month you will feel much easier in writing executable programs. you can select one language and start coding.
