Those who have replied that you don't need programming knowledge are idiotic. I'm a cybersecurity trainer for the past four years, and I'm the head of OWASP Coimbatore. If you aren't a script kiddie in Cybersecurity, then you don't need programming knowledge. You can use the tools built by pro hackers without knowing how the device works. If you want your career as cybersecurity, it's mandatory that you have the necessary knowledge in HTML, JS, PHP, Python, SQL. PHP and SQL are useful in Web Application Penetration for testing A1 Injections and HTML; JS helps exploit vulnerabilities like Cross Site Scripting.
On the other hands, Python is beneficial in Exploit Development during buffer overflows. If you want to get into Malware Analysis, then you must know Assembly Language. So it's up to you to decide. If you're going to stay low in Cyber Security, then you don't need programming knowledge.
But if you want to understand, then programming is mandatory. Hacking is entirely based on Vulnerabilities and exploitation. Vulnerabilities are discovered if you know the code flow and application flow.
