10 Keyboard Shortcuts to Get Rid Off The Mouse

Whether you are using a laptop or a desktop, the mouse surely takes up time. Imagine if you could alone manage with the keys and not have to move your hands around the mouse? That would have been faster and so much time-saving. For example, Control + Z for undo or Control + Y for redo, definitely saves time when we are at super fast work mode. Exactly like this, there are many simple keyboard short cuts, that if we can remember and start using on a daily basis, computing will be a much faster job.

For ease, here is listing 10 keyboard shortcuts that you can gradually add to your work hours in order to get rid of the mouse, save time and at the same time, be faster in your productivity:

Control + Escape : Start Menu

No computer user can complete their work without using the Start key. Open it immediately when you require by pressing Control and Escape together. To pick one of the option from the Start menu, you can use the navigation keys (Up and Down) as required.

Control + Alt + Tab : Open Apps

When using the computer for a very long time, you might have too many apps open at the same time. To view all the apps that you are working simultaneously at, you have to press three keys at the same time – control, alt and tab.

Alt + Tab : Switch between tabs

When many tabs are open together, its common to use the mouse to move from one tab to another. There is also a keyboard shortcut to this that helps computer users to switch between active tabs faster. The shortcut to switch between tabs is Alt and Tab pressed together.

Taking screen shoots as proof of documentation that majorly all computer users rely on. To simply do this, ensure you have the right window open on your desktop. Press windows key and print screen simultaneously and your screenshot will get saved in the Screenshot folder. If your screenshot has more than content required, you can always crop the extra beats.

Windows + X : Quick Link Menu

Pressing Windows and X keys together, you will get the Quick Link menu. From here, you can select options like Disk Management, Desktop, Power Options and so many more just at one click.

Windows + Up/Down arrow key : Alter size of app windows

When you press the ‘up’ or ‘down’ arrow key along with the Windows key, the size of the app window alters. While up makes the app window larger in size, down makes it shrink in size. This is very useful for computer users who use multi tabs at the same time.

Control + Home/End : Navigate through window

To move to the beginning or ending of the document, web page or excel sheet you are working on, you can use the above command. On pressing Control and Home together, you move to the beginning of the screen. On Control and End together, you come to the very end of the screen. Please note, the navigation happens only the present functional app window.

Spacebar : Scrolling down on web page

Do not think that the only use of space bar is to bring in spaces in a document. In case of web pages, space bar can be used to browse downwards on a document.

Windows + I : Settings

 Change in Settings is often required while working in the computer. Going by the Start menu or Quick link will be longer, once you map this shortcut of pressing the Windows and I key together. This is the shortcut to Settings option in a computer.

ALT + Left Arrow/Right Arrow : Navigate through web browser

Don’t end up on the mouse to go back or front during web browsing. Use simple keyboard command like ALT and Left arrow key to go back; again, use ALT and Right arrow key to move forward. Alike this web browsing can be very fast using keyboard shortcuts.
