What's the difference between a broadband router and a broadband modem?

modem just does protocol offload. For example: If you are having DSL Modem, it does processing of packet that offloads DSL Protocol and make it IP Packet for you.. Modem + Router = This make WiFi Capability on top of decapsulated PDU. i.e IP Packets will be sent out OTA using WiFi Technology
