Concept Clearance

Valency of P is 5, and valency of O is 2, in phosphate 4 o atom are there so total valency O2 is 4*2=8 and net valency of phosphate will be 8-5=3 so PHOSPHATE ion has 3 valency.

Phosphate formula is PO4, here oxygen valancy is -2 so 4x2=-8, phosphate can exist in +5 oxidation state, so that here phodphate valancy is -3.
