let us assume, you belongs to Delhi and want to travel villages of Punjab , Gujarat , Kerala and then Tamil Nadu.Other then you native language ( day ) Hindi , you need to learn Punjabi, Gujarati, Kannada & Tamil. It is very difficulty to lean all the language by you and at the same time villages of these ares can't learn all the languages of visitors. so try to solve this problem in this way, Let us assume all learn one more language that is common to all ( say English-Standard language). therefore, a standard and widely accepted language is needed to make communication possible between to strangers. Network and communication uses OSI reference model as a standard model, which is a theoretical framework. Practically TCP/ IP is used as a stand model for communication to happen in computer communication. read less
