River valleys are most fertile region and the first human settlement were all done to do agriculture. The fertile soil in these regions were best suited for agriculture. Hence people first settled near river valleys.

because water plays a very vital & significant role in the survival of living organisms. therefore to survive well in life people prefers to settle near the river valleys to meet the supply of their daily needs.
