Plastids are doubled membraned 'sac-like' organelles, generally involved in either the manufacture or storage of food. They include chloroplasts, chromoplasts and leucoplasts. All develop from proplastids: simple, generally colorless undifferentiated plastids.. Plastids are found in plants and some algae.
