why the Goldsmith mixes a small quantity of copper to pure Gold ?

Goldsmiths and Jewellers add copper (often) or silver (rarely) to gold when making jewellery. Copper is melted together with gold to make an alloy, which can then be beaten, drawn or twisted into various patterns. Gold isn't good for jewellery. Pure gold is a very malleable.
