This is because when the immune system of owr body first come across an infectious organisms like a virus causing small pox, it responds against virus and then remembers it specifically. When next time particular microbe or its closer relatives enter the body, immune system of the body responds with the pathogen even with greator vigour. This eliminates the infection more quickly than the first time and thus we do not suffer with the disease again. read less

Because chicken pox is caused by a virus (varicella zoster virus or VZV) and when your body meets this virus (gets infected with it) for the FIRST time, the immune system of your body creates antibodies (antibodies are a special protein made by B cells of the WBC) to fight the virus and then the specialized cells of the WBC retain the memory of the virus so when there's a second attack they instantly kill-stop the virus! read less
