The number of nucleons (both protons and neutrons) in the nucleus is the atom's mass number, and each isotope of a given element has a different mass number. For example, carbon-12, carbon-13 and carbon-14 are three isotopes of the element carbon with mass numbers 12, 13 and 14 respectively.

It is isotopes. Isotopes means same no of proton but different no of neutrons. Since proton no is same , atomic no will be same and hence same element. Since proton no is same and neuron no is different, mass no will be different for two isotopes

Isotopes of a given element have the same number of protons in each atom but differ in neutron; thus we can say that isotopes of a given element have same atomic number but differ in mass number.

Atoms of the same element can have different numbers of neutrons; the different possible versions of each element are called isotopes. For example, the most common isotope of hydrogen has no neutrons at all; there's also a hydrogen isotope called deuterium, with one neutron, and another, tritium, with...

An isotope of an element has a different atomic mass number but same atomic number . Carbon-12, carbon-13 and carbon-14 are three isotopes of the element carbon with different atomic mass numbers 12, 13 and 14 respectively having same atomic number 6.
