Road transport in India is complimentary to railways. There is no competition between the two lifelines of Indian economy. They corroborate rather compete with each other. Road transport in India is complimentary to railways. There is no competition between the two lifelines of Indian economy. They corroborate rather compete with each other. Unless we have capable and proper roadways our railways can't boost mobility. Similarly railways help and connect roadways. This it's the mutual contribution of both railways and road ways which comprise good economic growth.

2. Bulky and non-perishable goods are transported by railways over long distances and longer time, whereas perishable goods can be transported by roads in shorter time.

3. Railways can halt only at specie destinations where loading/unloading facilities are available, but vehicles on the road can be loaded or unloaded virtually anywhere.
