scalars have only magnitude, vectors have both magnitude and direction. Height of a man only magnitude, but weight both magnitude and direction.

Scalar quantities have only magnitude and no direction. Example: speed Vector quantities have both magnitude and direction. Example:velocity For speed, say, 40 kmph is enough information. But, for velocity, we need to specify the direction as well, like, 40 kmph towards east.
