Divergent is the opposite of convergent light. A divergent beam of light is known when the light is known to start at a given point to travel to different directions. Those collections of rays from one point to different directions can be called as divergent rays or beam of light

When a beam of light fallen on curved surface all the rays comes closer and meet at point on principle Axis of curved surface and forms image at that point. Divergent rays are the rays after fallen on curved surface deflects away from the principle Axis.
