The pages of manuscripts were sometimes beautifully illustrated.(ii) Manuscripts would be either pressed between wooden covers or sewn together to ensure preservation.(iii) Even in the late 19th century, manuscripts continued to be produced after the introduction of printing press.(iv) Manuscripts were highly expensive and fragile. They had to be handled carefully.(v) Manuscripts could not be read easily as the scripts were written in different styles. Thus, manuscripts were not widely used in everyday life.
