Nice question! The sun neither rises nor sets it' actually the rotation of the earth because of which we see the sun rising and setting. Depending on the location the timing for sunrise and sunset is different. If you see the earth rotates on its axis and at one time only one part of it faces the sun and other being dark. One example is because the earth is tilted at an axis for 6 months at one polar region there will be night and simultaneously there will be sunrise in the other polar region. After six months the case will be the same but at different locations. So it's the rotation of the earth which causes sunrise and sunset. read less
