I want to apply for Income tax jobs of India, but before to that I want to know, What is the work of Income Tax Department?

Income Tax Inspector is generally posted in either assessment section or non – assessment section. On the assessment post, you would assess the Income Tax to be charged on people and companies. You would also handle Refund claims, TDS and other such works. You would also join the raid company when it goes somewhere for a raid. You may also have to go for the recce to gather intelligence about tax evasion or other crime related to Income Tax. Generally, the work of an ITI is considered safe but when on such secret work of finding possible crimes, one has to be extra careful to not to fell into wrong hands. Normally, you should be able to complete your work in the office time but when on raid or search, you may have to work for longer and uncertain durations. read less
