The oils are boiled and are extracted at different boiling points. Just like the distillation of water where water is boiled and cooled off to get distilled water. Boiling point of petrol is 95 degree C and that of kerosene is between 150 to 300 degree C. Hence we can easily separate them using a simple distillation flask. Petrol will evaporate first and get condensed by the circulating water and get deposited in the collecting flask.
