The first law of thermodynamics is a version of the law of conservation of energy, adapted for thermodynamic systems. The law of conservation of energy states that the total energy of an isolated system is constant; energy can be transformed from one form to another, but cannot be created or destroye...

Also remember that the laws of thermodynamics are purely empirical, and have no theoretical basis. They are enunciated purely on the basis of observation, and no physical phenomenon has been ever reported to violate the laws. But this does not mean that the laws are true and universal. Also remember that the laws of thermodynamics are purely empirical, and have no theoretical basis. They are enunciated purely on the basis of observation, and no physical phenomenon has been ever reported to violate the laws. But this does not mean that the laws are true and universal. Some day something might occur that may violate the law(s) and then we might need to modify the laws so as to suit those "unusual" observations. The thermodynamical laws are thus naturally different from Newton's laws of motion, the latter being rather defining and axiomatic in nature. read less

it states that-the total energy of an isolated system is always constant, energy can transform one to another but cannot be created or destroiyed.

The First Law of Thermodynamics states that energy can be converted from one form to another with the interaction of heat, work and internal energy, but it cannot be created nor destroyed, under any circumstances. Mathematically, this is represented as ?U=q+w

A good tutor

Thermodynamics first law states that, total energy is always constant. Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed ; it can only be transformed from form to another.

Heat given to a system (dQ) is equal to the sum of increase in its internal energy (dU) and the external work done (dW) by the system against surroundings. i.e., dQ = dU + dW

If the radius of the base of a cone is doubled keeping the height same. What is the ratio of the volume of the larger cone to the smaller cone?
When we take height=h and radios of base=r then volume of cone=?r^2*h/3 if radios of the base is doubled then R=2r and height=h so, volume is =?(2r)^2*h/3 therefore, ratio of the volume of latter cone...
